Do you agree?

"Little Boys"
by Unknown

Little boys come in all shapes and sizes,

Shy and adventurous, full of surprises,

With misshapen halos and mischievous grins,

Small dirty faces, and sweet, sticky chins.

They'll keep you so busy, and yet all the while

Nothing can brighten the world like their smile.

And no greater treasure has brought homes more joy

Than a curious, active, and lovable boy!

So true...:)

Saturday Morning Daybook - September 24

hosted by Jo March
Date...September 24, 2011
Starting time...9:55 AM
Mood...happy, a little worried (but I try not to think about that part...:P)
Outside my window...it's sunny! Last weeks coldness is gone...
I'm thinking...about the picnic we're going to tomorrow...
I'm currently reading...The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis for writing...
I'm listening to...some kind of weekend top 20 on Spirit FM or Positive hits...
I'm wearing...my jammies! Why hurry to get dressed?
I'm looking forward to...Christmas, Easter, Holy Week...*sigh*...
I'm hoping...that UVA will win their game today!
Yesterday, I...watched Tron: Legacy, was extremely confused by it (in some places more confused then Josie. Wow. Yeah. For me, that's bad. :D), but enjoyed it. I also read Beowulf (for lit.), and I went to CYAC. Yep. We had something fun planned, but alas, it got canceled (rain, rain go away. come again another day!)
I'm hungry for...just had honey, cinnamon, and buttermilk waffles with nutella and whipped cream. *heaven* We got a new waffle maker. You know, the fun circle kind that you flip over. So we got it like Thursday night (I think), and we've made 4 kinds of waffles on it since. Guys, if there's one thing that'd be a perfect present, that'd be it. :P
The song stuck inside my head is...Healing Begins by Tenth Avenue North.
I love...brothers who are unbelievably cute...
I loathe...burnt waffles.
This week, my goal is...to finish my review...
Did I meet last week's goal?...No, I didn't think up a good Halloween costume yet. not really, at least. But I guess you could say I started my review...(I got up 1 picture!!). ;)
Ending time...10:10 AM

Of my wonderful coffee

"So, you're going to post about switching your frappuccinos to caramel macchiatos?" - Gab

Hmm...how did you guess, dear sister? Surely not because I happened to be taking pictures of my caramel macchiato this morning! :P

So, yes, it's true. Lately I've been switching my frappuccino recipe to on
e for caramel macchiatos. They're not the same icy drinks, I know, but they're still divine. So I'm going to post what I've been using to make my version of a caramel macchiato. ;)

(please just ignore my lovely shadows on the pictures. :P I kept getting in the way of the light)

CARAMEL MACCHIATOS

1 cup of coffee
caramel to taste (homemade preferred)
cream/milk
whipped cream

That's it. Yay! They're SO GOOD! Oh, and if you want to make your own caramel, but don't know how, here's a recipe I got of the internet ('cause everytime I tried the simple s
ugar-butter-cream thing it messed up...). It's super good. So please try it. (but I would definitely cut this *at least in half*...even in half it'll make a lot (meaning = about a jar when it's cut in 1/2))

CARAMEL SAUCE

2 1/2 cups of brown sugar
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup of butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla
3/4 cup of whole milk

  1. Mix the sugar and condensed milk together in medium saucepan, and cook on medium heat until sugar is dissolved completely. Set aside.

  2. Melt the butter in another small saucepan, and stir in the vanilla and milk. Leave to simmer on low heat until mixture is smooth, about 1 to 2 minutes.

  3. Slowly stir the butter mixture into the sugar mixture and leave to stand 3 to 5 minutes until mixture becomes thick.

  4. Pour into bowl or small pitcher (or a jar...they work nicely) and cover. Store in refrigerator until ready to serve and enjoy!

So please, PLEASE try this out! It's perfect for those days when you need caffeine, but it's too cold for a frappuccino. I would make one for you myself, but, well, it's kind of hard to send it in the mail. I don't think the package man would really appreciate that.

Anyway, later guys!

Love,

i miss my sis

I guess a more appropriate title would be 'i miss my sisters', but 'i miss my sis' sounds better.

Here's the thing: Just last year, every day of every week we were all together. Gab, Jewel (Annette...she changed her name*), Josie, Bug, and I were all together every day. (one of the pluses of homeschooling, right?) And now...you're in the car with Bug, Mom, and Josie and realize that when you get home, there still won't be a Gab or a Jewel to say hi to. It's so sad. It makes me miss them. :(

You see, Gab's at CC three days a week for hours at a time; Jewel's going to private school...so Josie, Bug, and I are left at home. And the house seems so quiet. I mean, it's not like I'm playing or talking with them every moment. But after 9 years of being together every day, it just seems so weird that they're gone all the time.

I guess this is sorta a rambling post...but, just to let y'all know Jewel and Gab, I miss you when you're gone!

*Jewel has been changing stuff up around her blog. If you were following her and you found suddenly her blog disappeared, it was because we changed the URL...we're still figuring everything out. So if you were following her (or want to), and don't know the link, here it is*

Saturday Morning Daybook - September 17

hosted by Jo March
Date...September 17, 2011
Starting time...10:59 AM
Mood...happy, excited, glad to be swimming again...
Outside my window...it's partly cloudy and very cold.
I'm thinking...about my cold feet. :P
I'm currently reading...nothing. Finished Harry Potter. Decided it was probably best not to start anything except history and lit. reading, 'cause otherwise I'd always be reading my good book...
I'm listening to...Adam Young on Pandora.
I'm wearing...sweatshirt, sweat pants. Told ya it was cold. ;)
I'm looking forward to...next weekend, football game, see my friends.
I'm hoping...that UVA wins their game today. And that it'll be on TV...don't know if we get the channel it's on...
Yesterday, I...went to CYAC (did I mention we switched winter swim teams?), watched Of Gods and Men (Mom and Dad really wanted to...so we had to watch it)...the story line was fine. But it wasn't the best put together.
I'm hungry for...pancakes?
The song stuck inside my head is...Tidal Wave by Owl City.
I love...warm, clean laundry.
I loathe...cold nose/feet
This week, my goal is...to figure out a good costume for Halloween, and to start my movie review for Nana's blog. (watch for me! I'll be guest posting on October 1st)
Did I meet last week's goal?...didn't do this last week...
Ending time..

my letter!

Sorry this took so long, Jo. :P
Here's how it works: If you comment on this post and tell me you want a letter, then I'll give you one and you have to make a list of 10 things you love that start with that letter. Miss Jo over at Scraps gave me the letter O, and, I must say, I'm thrilled I got this letter. :P It and V are up there with my favorites...

But even though I love the letter O, it's really hard to come up with 10 things I love. After all, why else would people resort to putting overalls and octopuses (I know, I know..."octopi") in the slot of the letter O in the alphabet? But I'll try my best...

Olympics (who doesn't?)
Our Lady
Outlet Malls :P
Owl City
Orlando Bloom (in POTC)
Outer Banks ;)
Orchestra
Oreos
Older Sisters :D
"O God Beyond All Praising" (the hymn...love that one)

(You won't believe how long that took. It ended up with a lot of Googling, asking family members/friends, and looking it up on my dictionary app...)

Anybody want a letter?

12 September 2011

Y'all should watch this...

It's so sad...

9/11 - we'll never forget

9th month of the year...

8:46 AM...

2,977+ deaths (+19 terrorists)

Over 6,000 injured

55 military personnel killed at the Pentagon

411 emergency workers killed as they tried to help

Only 1,631 have been identified (as of August 2011).

At least 200 people died jumping or falling from the WTC buildings

1 thing we will NEVER FORGET

We'll be praying for those 2,996 people who died there today.
