Welcome Home, Hoos!

So remember all that baseball we've been watching? Well, since then UVA has lost a game to South Carolina, won another game against California, and lost their final game to South Carolina in a very VERY VERY close game. It was a good game, (as I said) even though we lost.

(this is the 1st SC game...)

On Saturday, UVA hosted a welcome-home party for the UVA baseball players on Davenport field. Guess who decided to go...:P We got to see and meet the baseball players and coaches! Like we got to put actual faces and people and hair (it actually made it harder when we could see their hair instead of helmets and caps) to the guys on TV.

Bug all decked out...:P
...(so cute!)...
Uhh...yeah.
The UVA baseball team

Us. :P
But and Annette on the field.

don't you love it!? :P
This is Dad, Bug, and Danny Hultzen (!!!!). This guy is the most famous guy on the team, I think...

Josie and Bug...(she has steri strips on her forehead)...
Me throwing up a ball...
...and going crazy...
umm...uhh...yeah. :P
;)
There ya go. UVA baseball team.

Saturday *Afternoon* Daybook

hosted by Jo March
Date...June 25, happy half birthday, Jo!
Starting time...1:21 PM
Mood...happy, sad...:P
Outside my window...it's blue, but not terribly bright
I'm thinking...about...my birthday. :P It's coming up! Can't wait.
I'm currently reading...I *just* finished Trespasses Against Us by Christian M. Frank.
I'm listening to...Bug and Josie playing with a ball. He's so cute.
I'm wearing...FLST T-shirt, athletic pants things...
I'm looking forward to...my birthday, the swim meet...
I'm hoping...to get a haircut soon. I really need one.
Yesterday, I...stayed up past 11:30 watching the UVA baseball game on TV. They lost. But barely. They did so well. They kept up and just barely *barely* lost. But it was great still. Sad, but we're still proud of them.
I'm hungry for...nothing. Just ate lunch.
The song stuck inside my head is...True Love's Kiss from Enchanted.
I loathe...getting so tan that...I just look so tan! So many people have problems about being "not tan enough". But mine is the opposite. Every summer I get an incredible bathing suit tan! It's awful. *sigh* But I just have to deal with it.
This week, my goal is...to get under 40 in breastroke...again...
Did I meet last week's goal? getting under 40 with my breastroke? No, I didn't. Just BARELY. My time was a 40.03, I think. *sigh* Next week...
Swim Team Story or Quote of the Week...Ok, so this is something new Jo put in for the summer. So I added it to mine too. ;) This week there weren't that many great stories around here, but...
Yesterday our head coach had to leave practice early. Wanna know why? He had a wedding rehearsal because he's his brother's best man in the wedding today. Isn't that sweet? ;)
Ending time...1:34 PM

life defined...

Haven't done this forever, so...

Excitement is...going to Hollymead meet! It was exciting at the beginning...but it was even more so at the end.

Exhilaration is...the feeling of having finished your IM and gotten 1st in it! Plus finding out that your coach says he thought that it was the best race of the evening (even though we were at the beginning of the meet :P)...

Exhausted is...how you feel after every single race. But who cares? :D

Pressured is...the feeling when I stepped up on the block to race breastroke and knew that my team and coach were counting on me to win it....

Amazement is...finding out I totally crushed my heat. :P

THE BEST was...last night's meet. Guys, it was awesome. Gab got 4 first places! And I got 3 firsts and a third! It was so much fun! Plus we beat Hollymead by 39 points. :P That just added to the fun.

Rain and Baseball...

...do NOT go together. :P Here we are, waiting on the edge of our seats for the College World Series game to come on, and what do ya know! There's a 30 minute rain delay!

On Sunday night we were one of those families that were ecstatic that UVA won a game in the College World Series. It was 4-1; UVA won against Cal. It was fun. They've never gotten this far before.

But what was even better? When UVA won the game that brought them into the College World Series this year.

It was the 9th (and last) inning. UVA was losing. 2-1. And who knew? We won by getting 2 runs, making the final score 3-2! THAT was awesome.

So. If you have nothing else to do tonight, turn on your TV and watch and hope and pray that UVA wins. :)

Saturday Morning Daybook

hosted by Jo March
Date...June 18, 2011
Starting time...11:10 AM
Mood...happy, pumped...:P
Outside my window...It's sunny to the fullest. And it's hot, I bet.
I'm thinking...about our next meet! HOLLYMEAD MEET! They're our rivals. But I'm almost sure we can beat them this year. Our team has been doing really really well so far. Our girls beat the girls of the best team in the whole league. So I think we're in good shape. ;)
I'm currently reading...Catholic Reluctantly by Christian M. Frank
I'm listening to...the new Owl City album! It came out late Monday night and it's been played here everyday since, I think. :P Right now How I Became the Sea is on.
I'm wearing...FLST shirt, tan shorts, my watch...it's new. My old one broke. :( It was so sad.
I'm looking forward to...are you kidding!?!? THE MEET. I can't wait! I'm also looking forward to going shopping today so we can get our theme really well...can't tell you what the theme is. It's supposed to be TOP SECRET because Hollymead is so near us.
I'm hoping...that we beat hollymead. ;)
Yesterday, I...had a viola lesson, watched The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Nana, you're right. I think it got a little better the 2nd time.
I'm hungry for...lots of stuff. :) I'm actually really hungry.
The song stuck inside my head is...How I Became the Sea by Owl City
I love...music, JSL swim meets
I loathe...the feeling of the wet swim deck with gross stuff on it.
This week, my goal is...get under a 40 with my breastroke...it'll be tough, but I did it in my relay...but then relay times are usually better, so...
Did I meet last week's goal?...No. John was cruel and didn't PUT me in breast stroke. *sigh*
Ending time...11:17 AM

DC - Days 3 & 4 // All the rest ;)

I just wanted to get all this done, so I'm combining days 3 and 4 to make a nice big jumble of pictures for you. But first a little update from the Coulter home:

Swim meet went great! Gab especially did fantastic. (more specifics later) We all had so much fun swimming, especially against Faraview--the team that we knew a bunch of people on. Next week? Here we come Hollymead!

Somehow this morning Josie managed to hit her head on the side of the pool while diving in. Impressive, right? She had to get stitched up at Dad's office. All the while, Gab and I were stuck in a freezing cold classroom listening to a lady talk about preparing for the SAT and PSAT. *sigh* Yep. We missed the excitement.

Ok, now for all the pictures (I'm gonna just throw them at you :P)

Cute, huh? ;)

The original Wright Flyer, except the cloth and the tail thing, I think...

Yeah, I know...I look weird...:P
Bug when he fell asleep
Amelia Earhart's plane...yes, the original. Isn't that fun?

Her suit and goggles...
At Ford's Theater...remember this? Who knows their history? :P
The booth place that Lincoln got shot in...
While driving past the Washington monument...
The sunset from the hotel window (Day 3)
...with an airplane...
...getting darker...
:)
In front of the Capital
The Supreme Court building...
The big hallway thing...
...on a column outside...
...in front...
The Library of Congress. I know: FUN. :P

Recognize this from National Treasure, anyone?

IT. WAS. GORGEOUS.
You should go sometime; it's totally worth it.

Ok. That just about finishes it up. We also went to the Spy Museum, the National Archives (saw the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights), and the Holocaust Museum, but not photography was allowed there, so you don't get to see. :(

But...that was our trip to DC!
